How Penn State Football can use recruiting to keep up with Ohio State

If Penn State Football wants to compete in the Big Ten, they need to be able to recruit at a high level.

You may have noticed, but Ohio State Football recruits very well, like very, very well.

This past week, the Buckeyes landed three wide receivers who were all ranked in the top 50 in the 247 Sports Composite. Ohio State is easily becoming the clear-cut answer to who is WRU.

It’s not just wide receiver though, the Buckeyes recruit well at important positions like quarterback and defensive line. This recruiting has helped Ohio State defeat the Nittany Lions on the field the last five times they’ve played.

The games have been competitive for the most part, with the 2020 empty stadium matchup being the exception. You can see that the Nittany Lions are close to being at Ohio State’s level on the field, they’re just missing some pieces.

The Nittany Lions have been no slouch on the recruiting trail lately. They finished the 2022 class ranked No. 6 in the national rankings and currently have the No. 5 classes in 2023.

While this is great, here are the positions Penn State needs to recruit at a high level to counteract Ohio State’s star-studded offense.
