Ranger stands near damaged road

A Yellowstone National Park ranger is seen standing near a road wiped out by flooding along the Gardner River the week before, near Gardiner, Mont., June 19, 2022. Park officials said they hope to open most of the park within two weeks after it was shuttered in the wake of the floods. (AP Photo/Matthew Brown)AP

To the Editor:

As voters go to the polls this week and next Tuesday, I hope they remember Yellowstone and all the other areas that are feeling extreme rainfall, heat and fires. We desperately need to tackle climate change on all fronts. Unfortunately, many Republican candidates do not have a plan to do so. In fact, many deny climate change entirely.

Yes, inflation is a problem that needs to be addressed. But suppose inflation goes down and everyone resumes business as usual. We will still have climate disruptions, and they will most assuredly negatively affect our economy and lifestyles. And the future of our children. Vote intelligently, please.
